What’s in a Mascara, L’oreal

This week I realized that I was in need of a new mascara; for the past few months I’ve been using only Max Factor 2000 Calorie. Even though there are a lot of great mascaras from Dior or Lancome, I was very satisfied with Max Factor – the price was great and the mascara itself gave me all I needed (volume, length and the dramatic look).

It really does fan out the lashes like the brand promises and the effect is magnificent! However, I’ve fallen under the influence of all the commercials and the celebrities that advertise all these new kinds of mascaras. After thinking about it for a few days, I decided to give L’Oreal a chance to prove it’s quality.

So my first task was to test the two types that sell the best – L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes and L’Oreal Paris Telescopic . Penelope Cruz in the commercial with the telescopic mascara on her lashes (which I hope they are her own) looks gorgeous, so that made me try that one first.

So…  The tube of the mascara is gold with black letters; it’s shaped like a telescope, so this is where the product gets it’s name from. The brush of the mascara is very elegant, shaped like a comb with four lines of rubbery spikes; at first it seemed difficult to apply on the lashes, but once I got the hang of it, it became really easy.

My lashes became carbon black after only one layer; when I got the second layer on, they were so long and defined, I couldn’t believe it! I was able to reach almost to the root of the lash itself because the brush is so slim. My eyes looked so sexy and seductive with only two layers on; this I wasn’t expecting. The mascara is so greasy and buttery, not dry at all and it was not too hard to  remove. All in all – I loved it!

My second test was L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes; by making a campaign with Eva Longoria L’Oreal struck gold! That made my hopes go up and I was certain this mascara wouldn’t disappoint me. Boy was I wrong! The packing is great – I give them that, but the brush… A complete disaster! It is so big and fat which makes applying the mascara very difficult.

I splattered it all around my upper lid and my lashes look so plain and boring as almost nothing remained on them. The purpose of this mascara is to volumise and lengthen the lashes without causing clumping – it does everything but!

In my personal opinion, the Telescopic mascara is not as dry as Volume Million Lashes mascara, and the brush is way better.

Well, you must have figured out by now which one I bought 😉
